Getting a grip on Risk Management at the Risk Decisions' annual European user conference
August 2009
Knowing the risk is one thing but knowing what you are going to do about it is another matter altogether. This is the main theme of Risk Decisions’ annual European User Conference which is taking place on 12th November at the Milton House Hotel, Abingdon in Oxfordshire. The event will be attended by delegates representing a wide range of defence, construction, government, manufacturing, engineering and aviation organisations throughout the UK and Europe.
Delegates will attend a number of interesting track sessions and workshops conducted by industry experts and take advantage of the many networking opportunities throughout the conference. Many important issues will be examined relating to best practice risk reporting, escalation, contingency management and shared risk management as well as how to integrate risk management with internal audit and business planning. Risk Decisions will also be demonstrating the latest version of Predict! 4, the recently launched risk management and analysis solution.
The keynote speaker is Alan Chambers, MBE who will discuss the role that risk management played in the first successful unsupported British expedition from Canada to the North Pole. Track sessions will include:
• ‘So you have identified the risks - What now?’ - Colin Steer, Head of Training Solutions, Thales
• ‘Risk Reports – Getting them to take notice’ - Doug Wilson, Divisional Director of Industry and Technology, Mott MacDonald
• ‘Perspectives – escalating, reporting and summarising risks’ – Susheel Chumber, Professional Services Manager, Risk Decisions
• ‘Learning the lessons of history to avoid repeating them’ – Terry Eames, Managing Director, Risk Decisions PTY Ltd
• ‘Stop admiring performance risks and start managing them’ – Val Jonas, CEO, Risk Decisions
In addition to these track sessions, Mark Turner, Head of Internal Audit at Selex Galileo will discuss the role that risk management has to play in the audit process. Nigel Vereker, Risk Decisions’ Product Manager will present a roadmap of future developments for Predict! 4, which was successfully launched in 2009, and Terry Eames, Managing Director of Risk Decisions PTY Ltd, will chair an ‘Ask the Expert’ session.
