Risk Decisions Professional Services Manager Susheel Chumber to present at APM Thames Valley Branch event
Good risk management means getting the right information to the right people, at the right time, and gaining management attention. Across inter-dependent projects and complex programmes, deciding what the right information is and the right place to get that information to, can be a major challenge. Even if you have good processes in place, the challenge is to identify the right risks and types of risks to be communicated either up and down the management chain, or sideways, to the right support group. To achieve this, you need to design a risk map of appropriate categories that is meaningful to your project or programme, and to the objectives of your organisation. With a good risk map in place, you will have a definition of the key criteria that are used to manage risk hotspots through identifying, summarising, communicating and responding to risk. This presentation offers practical advice on creating the right risk map for your context to help your organisation understand and reap its benefits. Application of the risk map across programmes, projects and the portfolio allows you to manage risk locally, but think globally, to get management attention and budget to manage risks effectively. As a result, major cost savings can be made by implementing strategic risk management, rather than duplicating activities across the organisation in a tactical way.
